Controlling one of the largest line-item costs in operating budgets – energy – is now within reach for San Angelo Independent School District as a result of a partnership with energy advisory firm, 5.
5 began working with San Angelo ISD in 2016, initially managing the district’s procurement contracts leading to cost reductions of approximately $5.6 million over several contracts. The 5 team transitioned into operational consulting and training that helped the district look at power factor issues, analyze energy demand and usage across the district, and evaluate the economics of several solar projects.
“5 earned the right to be our energy provider,” said Dr. Jeff Bright, Assistant Superintendent of San Angelo ISD. “They did deep-dive analytics on our usage in specific buildings, showing us data and making recommendations to help us avoid peaks that were costing us thousands of dollars.”
As part of its work with San Angelo ISD, one of over 50 school districts that 5 represents in Texas, the team provides updates on market conditions and on-going training on how to reduce expenditures on the utility side of their bills.
