Honoring our commitment to excellence and desire to transform the deregulated energy industry, we selected a name that keeps our team future-focused and alerts others of our unique approach. To further highlight this transformative vision, we took the name one step further by trademarking it. In November of 2013, the company name 5 became officially trademarked with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, when Mattel, the makers of Barbie, asked the public to vote on the next “career” Barbie last fall, the winner was the Computer Engineer. It was a somewhat surprising choice given that that the votes were entered on the Barbie website and the choices were architect, anchorwoman, computer engineer, environmentalist and surgeon. The early favorite was anchorwoman until a concerted Internet campaign by so-called, “geek-girls,” led to the winning choice. Give Barbie credit for coming a long way. In the early 1990s talking Barbie included the phrase, “Math is hard” in her repertoire.

Catherine Luthin was selected to serve on the Council for Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership (CWEEL) Board of Directors. She was chosen along with a prestigious group of peers to serve on this important inaugural board for a two-year term (2010‐2011).
